1. Motivate and Empower Your Students Through Digital Media

Would you like to have the time to explore the many features of iPhoto, iMovie 09, and iWeb all within the context of rich teaching and learning? This strand will focus on multimedia in the classroom and provide an opportunity for participants to experiment create, and plan how to bring it all back the classroom environment.  The TPCK and SAMR models will guide us as we examine the integration of multimedia in curriculum planning.

2. Google Apps for Education

Is your school a Google Apps for Ed school? Is the administration considering adding it to your district tool set? This session is for you! Learn how to use the tools (docs, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, calendars, sites) available in Google Apps for Ed for teacher, student and admin purposes. The focus will be on classroom uses, but we can also discuss the implementation for a school or district and how to set it up for each grade level or span if there is interest. If we have time, we’ll take a look at the Google tools available with full Google or Gmail account (reader, picasa, maps, alerts, fusion tables, blogger).   (Mac, PC, Linux)

3. Moodle / Mahara Mania

Are you considering using the web for online learning? Have you thought about using electronic portfolios? Do you like M words? Then this is the session for you. The participants in this strand will be learning to use Moodle to provide interactive online learning environments and Mahara to create social web-based portfolios.
(Any platform – bonus points for obscure ones) Intermediate

4. Podcasting

You have heard about it for years… Podcasting.  But what is it really?  This strand will get you up to speed with video & audio capture, which tools are out there to use & the process of podcasting. We will show you a variety of software that can be used, in class work will be done with Garageband as well as Audacity.  This is a very hands “on” strand.  If you have a microphone or headset.. bring them!

5. Calling All Technology Newbies!

A gentle hand, support, advice and plenty of new learning for the teacher who is a novice with integrating technology. This strand will be designed around the needs and goals of the participants to help them to begin integrating technology into their own classrooms.  Lots of hand-holding, and activities and minilessons tailored to your needs and interests.
